STUDENT POLICY
Lesson Scheduling and Registration
Students are registered for the entire year.
Registration is considered final with receipt of the annual $50 membership fee, unless a payment plan has been arranged. The membership fee is non-refundable. Registration also allows students to attend recitals for free as well as discounted rates at other TUOR events.
Payment of Fees: All fees may be paid by epayment, cash, credit card, or zelle and are due by the 10th of each month. All performing students must pay June tuition in advance on or before May 10th. All accounts must be completely current and have a $0.00 balance with all fees paid by May 10th, or they will not be eligible to perform in the Annual Showcase. Payments may be made in person or mailed to: Talent Under One Roof, Inc.- Performing Arts Center, 1179 Flatbush Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11226.
Non-Payment/Inactive Students: Any student whose account is not paid in full by the 10th of each month will be asked to take a leave of absence and listed as inactive until the account is paid current. Any account that has outstanding tuition fees, costumes will not be ordered. Any and all payments must be made to outstanding tuition first. If you had made previous payments on costumes and then have an outstanding tuition bill, you will forfeit the costume payments and they will be applied to the outstanding tuition balance first.
Late Fees & NSF Fees: All accounts will be charged a $10 late fee for each month a payment is delinquent, all payments must be received before the 10th of each month, regardless of the day of the week it falls on. All NSF checks will be charged $40 fee.
Enrollment Cut-off: Cut-off registration dates for all performing students’ falls on January. Students joining after that date are welcome to perform in class but will be unable to perform in the annual Showcase.
Withdrawal and Refunds: A one-month written notice from the first of the month is required to discontinue any classes. Withdrawal forms may be picked up at the studio. Withdrawal must occur within the first 7 days of the month. To withdraw from classes, a parent or adult student must: 1. Inform the school, and 2. Complete and sign a withdrawal form provided by the studio. Upon your withdrawal, you forfeit any membership fees, tuition or costume monies – there are no refunds. If withdrawing after costume has been ordered and you have an outstanding balance, you then forfeit the costume and all costume payments, they become property of Celebration Street. Accounts in good standing that withdraw after costumes have been ordered must pick up the costume before recital or they will be considered abandoned and become property of Celebration Street.
Extreme Weather or Unexpected Interruption of Classes: If the school must cancel classes due to extreme weather or events beyond our control, students may make up their missed classes with a class that is in their appropriate level within 30 days. No refund for lessons missed due to these reasons will be given.
Substitutions: The school reserves the right to provide a substitute teacher if the regular scheduled teacher is ill or otherwise unable to teach classes. If a teacher is ill and the school cannot arrange a substitute any missed classes can be made up in a like class.
Make up Lesson: Regular attendance by students are required and expected. Students who arrive late cannot be guaranteed a full class/lesson.
If a student fails to attend a lesson, and fails to inform the school at least 24 hours in advance, a make-up lesson is not required, and the lesson time will be paid for by the student.
Teachers are not required to make up lessons when the school is closed due to a holiday, vacation, poor weather conditions or any unforeseen emergency.
All private lessons and group classes will be made up for teacher absences.
Make-up lessons missed by a student for any reason will not be rescheduled or refunded.
Students who withdraw, forfeit any make-up lessons they are owed.
Dress Code: Required dancewear and dance shoes, or martial arts must be worn to all classes. Failure to wear required attire to class could result in students being asked to sit out of the class.
Parent’s Responsibility to be Aware of Dates and Events: It is the responsibility of the parent or adult student to be aware of all school activities, such as recitals, extra classes, rehearsals and dates, when the school is open or closed. The school will post all notices on the bulletin board; send notices by email as well as sending notices home with students. It is the parent’s responsibility to regularly check these boards or website to ensure that they are informed. It is the responsibility of the parent or adult students to inform the school of any address or telephone number change.
Care of Students: The school is not responsible for providing before or after class care for students. Students are not to be left at the school for excessive time before or after class.
Nondiscrimination Policy: TUOR does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, color, nationality, sex, ethnic origin, religious belief, gender, or sexual orientation in its employment practices or in the administration of its educational policies.
Photo Release: TUOR is hereby granted permission to take photographs and or videos of the students to use in brochures, websites, posters, advertisements and other promotional materials the school creates.
