Class Description


Combo: Development of coordination, listening, skills and motor skills required for dance using exercises that enhance flexibility, coordination, strength, and muscle tone and auditory/visual memory. Classroom etiquette gently taught.


Pre: Correct  placement and body alignment are taught to prepare for entrance to Beginner Ballet/Modern/Lyrical/Jazz Fundamental steps, positions and movements of classical movement are introduced. Barre work is introduced. Coordination and rhythm are done with emphasis on stretching and flexibility using proper Ballet terminology while learning how to move across the floor and in space to all different types of music.


Ballet: This class develops the student’s awareness of alignment in basic ballet vocabulary. Barre work is introduced in simple exercises. The goal of this class is to create a strong technical foundation.


Jazz/Hip-Hop:  Dancers learn to move energetically, yet wholesomely. Sharpen dance skills and strengthens  muscle tone.


Modern/Lyrical: Strengthens the body and focus on interpretation and musicality. This class includes contemporary modern and jazz positions, stretching, coordination movements, turns, jumps and floor work. Freeing and joyful, the dance style takes inspiration and moods directly from the music, bringing its roots and emotions into the choreographed movements.


African:  Focus is placed on quality of movement, rhythm and clarity of form based on a sense of appreciation for African derived dance forms.


Ballroom:  A couples dance where they will learn various social dances, such as the fox trot, tango, or waltz, in which couples follow a conventional pattern of steps.


Zumba: Zumba fitness is a dance oriented fitness class choreographed specifically to change with the music. It is both a mental and physical workout that inspires and exhilarates. Usually quite over the edge and choreographed to the latest music, this is the future of fitness. Zumba Fitness is known for the zesty Latin music, like salsa, merengue, cumbia and reggaeton, the exhilarating, easy-to-follow moves, and the invigorating party-like atmosphere. It’s a dance-fitness class that feels friendly, satisfying and fun.
